UNCORK A LEGEND

We use our vintages to pay tribute to A.J. Foyt and his incredible racing career. Each wine offering produced is labeled with a number and story that’s significant to A.J. Foyt’s career, either a car number (his famous No. 14 was the first) or a year in which Foyt won an important race. These stories are designed to help people to learn, respect and acknowledge what A.J. Foyt has accomplished and what his name means to American motorsports, the Indy 500 and its fans.

On October 25, 1964, A.J. Foyt conquered the one-mile dirt oval at the California State Fairgrounds to win the Golden State 100.

Driving the No. 1 Meskowski-Offenhauser, he led the final 70 laps to earn his 10th victory of a dominant 13-race season, which also included the Indianapolis 500 and USAC National Championship.

Road America was the site of one of the toughest moments of A.J. Foyt’s career but also the beginning of one of his greatest comebacks.

In September 1990, A.J. suffered serious injuries in a crash at the historic Wisconsin road course, including fractures to his left knee and left heel, along with a dislocated right foot. This photo was taken less than a month later, showing just how difficult the road to recovery would be.

But A.J. Foyt was never one to back down from a challenge.

Through months of rehabilitation, grit and determination, Super Tex fought his way back behind the wheel. Just eight months after the crash, he returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and qualified on the front row for the 1991 Indianapolis 500.

As INDYCAR returns to Road America this weekend, we look back at a comeback that perfectly represented the toughness and determination that defined A.J. Foyt’s legendary career. 🏁

Jim welcomed us with a warm greeting. He spoke about the winery and the museum. Was knowledgeable and helpful choosing wine since I’m not a wine drinker. The museum has a lot of moments captured of AJ’s life during his career. We had a great time relaxing and seeing a bit of racing history.

Very nice looking wine tasting area and building. On display are many of his race cars, helmets, and memorabilia. I was always rooting for him in races.

Came upon this Winery today by accident and I must say what an amazing place!! If you are a race enthusiast and fan of AJ Foyt, this is the place to see! Jim gave us a tour and was so thoughtful and informative. The winery was beautiful, but the car museum was awesome! A must see, ask for Jim.
